Driving safety tips for the holidays
The months of November and December bring holidays, of course, and with the holidays comes travel. Whether you're flying, driving, or taking a train (do people still do that?), it's important to do so safely. Driving is the most common mode of travel, and statistically, it's the most dangerous. Let's go over a few simple safety reminders as the holidays are fully upon us.

Stay focused
That is a broad command, we know. But it covers a wide span of areas. Stay focused on the road, be aware of your surroundings, and don't worry so much about what is happening inside the car. You're responsible for your own safety as well as your passengers'.
Avoid distractions
So, this one is essentially the complement of the first tip. You've heard it a billion times—don't text and drive. Keep your phone stowed away and out of sight until you arrive at your destination. But your phone isn't the only potential distraction. Keep the noise to a manageable level a and do your best to avoid anything that takes your eyes off the road.
Take less crowded routes if possible
It's pretty simple—fewer cars, fewer accidents. We know it's sometimes impossible to avoid busy roads, but when you can, you should. A slight detour that may add thirty seconds to your trip is worth it if it means you have less of a chance of getting into an accident. Plus, clearer roads are always less stressful, right?
Don't drive tired
Driving sleepy at the wheel is almost as dangerous as driving drunk. We've all been there. You feel your eyes closing, your head bobbing, and you just can't stay alert. Pull over, turn your hazards on, and take a power nap. Just twenty minutes should be enough to give you a spark of energy. Stay safe out there, and Happy Holidays!
