The History behind Mazda

Before Mazda was created in 1920 by Shinpachi Kaizuka in Hiroshima, Japan, the company was named Toyo Cork Kogyo Corporation. This company produced cork and machine tools. It later evolved to selling small vehicles for the Japanese market by 1931. By 1961, Mazda has created its own technological expertise and perfects the engine for its Cosmo 110S luxury sports coupe. In 1970, Mazda establishes its roots in the United States by creating Mazda Motor of America, Inc which was located in Seattle, Washington. Eventually, all the companies merged in 1981 and later sells its one-millionth passenger car in 1982.

How Mazda has grown since then

Today, Mazda has approximately 620 dealerships throughout the United States and Mexico. The Mazda headquarters is located in Hiroshima, Japan. The Mazda North American Operations, which oversees marketing, sales, parts and customer service, is located in Irving, California. Throughout the world, there are over 130 countries and regions who drive Mazda vehicles.
