Should I drive for any of the delivery services?

Pro and Cons to driving for Uber, DoorDash, Instacart and other businesses

If you don’t know about delivery service businesses, it is time to come out of the dark ages. They are great for bringing you what you need from your favorite stores or taking you to where you need to go. While there are some really great perks, there are some cons. We have listed out some of the items you need to think about before you sign up to become a driver.

A good way to have a flexible schedule

As one of the biggest perks of being a driver, you can take advantage of a flexible schedule and pick the hours that work best for you. Certain times and areas will bring in more money for you and this is something you should take into consideration.

Taxes

As an independent contractor, drivers do not get overtime pay and are responsible for their own taxes. Keep track of the mileage and maintenance costs while working because these can be counted as tax deductibles.

Vehicle insurance

Some companies will cover your vehicle when it is on the clock but this is something you should take into consideration when signing up for an insurance policy. Some may not cover driving gigs.

Wear and tear on your vehicle

Your vehicle will start to rack up the mileage once you start driving. Set aside money for any upcoming costs like oil changes or tire changes.
