The 2019 Mazda 3 in Review

Mazda has always been an innovative leader in the automotive field. With their first rotary engine being produced 50 years ago, this company isn't afraid to try new concepts. 1967 was also the beginning of the sports car era for Mazda. The 2019 model continues in this tradition.

New Engine

The new Mazda3 will feature a new engine design alongside the 3 other available engines for 2019. They were working on a gasoline engine that would have used homogeneous charge compression ignition of the fuel. This is similar to how a diesel engine operates. It would use a super lean mixture of a gasoline-air mixture for combustion under high-pressure without a spark plug. The problem was trying to run during high acceleration and engine speeds to make it completely feasible.

The solution they came up with uses a combustion controlled spark plug ignition. This still enables the use of ultra-lean fuel mixtures which increases horsepower and also fuel economy. This 2 liter engine has power comparable to their 2.5 liter gasoline engine while giving the fuel economy similar to the 1.5 liter diesel.

The engine switches back and forth between compression ignition and spark. A small turbocharger helps by forcing more air in at higher speeds which makes for a leaner mixture for compression burning. It uses a cooled exhaust recirculation which keeps the combustion from overheating. It also features a high-pressure injection system which atomizes the fuel more efficiently. The engine also runs cleaner and puts out fewer emissions than a diesel. It should put out close to 190 horsepower and 170 foot pounds of torque.

Mazda 3

The newest version will be available in both a sedan and hatchback model. They are both sleek and well designed cars. The pricing is very competitive which makes either one of these vehicles a great deal. Besides having a new engine, you will also be able to purchase the Mazda with a choice of 3 regular gasoline engines and a diesel.

It checks your eye movement and line of sight to see if you are alert and will issue an alarm if it determines there is a risk of you falling asleep.

A lot of high tech gadgets have been left out of this car for a very good reason. The Mazda is made for driving instead of distractions. The 3 brings back the fun in driving subcompact cars. The handling is great and similar to a sports car feel. With the addition of all wheel drive, this Mazda is another leader in the field. It monitors precisely when you need it and switches back to front wheel drive automatically when its not needed. This helps maintain good fuel economy which is a vision Mazda is promoting even more for the future. The Mazda 3 is a vehicle that is worth checking out. Whether you opt for the sedan or hatchback, you will get a very unique vehicle.
