Understanding Your Mazda Warranties
There’s so much to keep track of when you first purchase your Mazda. It’s a very exciting time, but with so much happening it’s easy for some things to get lost in the shuffle. One of the things that is likely to get lost in all the excitement is a solid understanding of your warranty. Still, the warranty is a very important part of vehicle ownership since your vehicle may need repairs during the course of ownership. Additionally, many vehicle owners don’t really understand what the warranty covers and does not cover. Understanding how it works will help you make the right decisions when you do purchase a car and help you know what you can rely on in the event that something happens.
New Vehicle Limited Warranty
Everyone purchasing a new vehicle gets a new vehicle warranty. This warranty applies toall new Mazda vehicles and provides peace of mind in the first years of owning a vehicle. It’s very unlikely that any car owner would have to use this warranty, and yet we understand that a vehicle is a huge investment. It’s important to have this kind of backup. The manufacturer backs up their product by providing this warranty. The New Vehicle Limited Warranty covers any defects in materials or workmanship in any part supplied by Mazda. This warranty lasts for three years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. It’s also important to remember that a car owner must adhere to any factory recommended maintenance in order for the warranty to be valid. This warranty is transferable. If your new Mazda fails due to some part that is under warranty during the warranty period, you do have towing service to the nearest Mazda dealership as well. This is also known as 24/7 roadside assistance.
Powertrain Limited Warranty
While the New Vehicle Limited Warranty gives new car owners some assurance that not all will be lost if something fails on the car, the powertrain limited warranty lasts for a longer period of time and still covers a lot of the major aspects of a vehicle, otherwise known as the powertrain. As long as the parts were supplied by Mazda, this warranty will cover them. The powertrain is essentially what gives the vehicle power and makes it move. The powertrain will cover things like the engine, transmission, and drivetrain. Maintenance, of course, is not included so it’s important for a vehicle owners to still make sure they get oil changes and tune-ups as needed. The powertrain limited warranty lasts for 60 months or 60,000 miles whichever comes first. During the warranty period, this warranty is transferable to anyone who might purchase the vehicle second-hand. Should a part under warranty fail while the vehicle is still under warranty, 24/7 roadside assistance is available.
Mazda Extended Confidence
If you purchase a certified pre-owned vehicle, you have great options as well! A certified pre-owned vehicle comes with a 12 month or 12,000 mile limited warranty. This will start when the limited new vehicle warranty ends or at the time of purchase depending on the situation.
When this warranty ends, you can still get great extended coverage through Mazda. You have two options for extending your warranty.
The Total Confidence plan will give you the most comprehensive coverage available for a certified pre-owned vehicle. This plan covers close to the same number of things that the New Vehicle Limited Warranty covers. This will provide great peace of mind for you in the event of a mechanical breakdown or failure.
The Powertrain Confidence plan is much like the Powertrain Limited Warranty and will take care of the most crucial parts of your car.
These plans utilize genuine Mazda parts with deductibles ranging from $0 to $100. Every Mazda dealership nationwide will accept these plans and provide advanced diagnostics. Only factory-trained technicians will work on your vehicles and the warranty is transferable. You will also get 24 hour seven days a week roadside assistance. Keep in mind that this is the only Mazda-branded vehicle service plan.
Other Plans
Mazda does offer some other plans for additional kinds of coverage.
Gap Protection is a unique coverage plan that will protect you from being completely ruined financially in case your vehicle ends up stolen or totaled in an accident. Throughout the course of owning your vehicle, it depreciates in value. If you lose it, you will still be responsible for the money owed. Gap protection can help you in case that happens.
Tire and Wheel Protection
Great tires are important to keep your vehicle moving and yet your tires can be quite vulnerable to road conditions. Tire and wheel protection will make sure that you can get repairs and replacements as needed should something happen to your vehicle on the road.
