Why is My Vehicle Shaking?
Vehicle shaking or vibration reasons
There could be a variety of reasons why your vehicle may be shaking or vibrating. We will discuss some of the reasons and what you can do to fix it. Keep reading to learn more.
Wheels/tires
As you are driving, if you are noticing your steering wheel feeling wobbly and your vehicle is vibrating, one of the wheels may not be spinning properly. It could also be related to the wheel bearings, ball joints or tie rod ends.
Axle
If you recently have gotten into an accident or some sort of mishap on the road, your axles could be causing your vehicle to shake as your vehicle accelerates. When they are bent or dented, this is when it starts to happen. Other reasons could be due to the CV joints or driveshaft so have those inspected as well.
Brakes
As brake pads get used, they tend to wear down. If the front brake pads or rotors have worn down, they can cause your vehicle to shake when you try to slow down. You may need to replace these right away so more problems don’t start to happen and the fixes become more expensive. As a way to avoid this in the future, have a visual expectation of your brakes done every time you have your oil changed.
Engine
Different components of your engine wearing down could cause problems. Check your spark plugs if your vehicle is between 70,000 and 100,000 miles and they haven’t been switched out. Otherwise, your air filter may need to be replaced.
