100th Anniversary Miata MX-5

Mazda Miata MX-5 100th Anniversary Edition

The Miata is a deeply beloved vehicle in Mazda’s lineup. This lightweight roadster revolutionized the sports car model when it debuted for the very first time in 1989. This ultra-trendy, stylish sports car quickly went on to change the mainstream auto market forever.

For the first time, Mazda’s Miata MX-5 provided drivers with a reasonably affordable and practical sports car option that wasn’t only built for the race tracks and wouldn’t drain their savings account. The Miata MX-5 debuted as a reliable passenger vehicle that you could drive on an everyday basis but was still enjoyable to drive and stylish enough to call itself a sports car.

As Mazda celebrates their 100th anniversary this year in 2020, Mazda drivers around the world are excited to experience a brand-new special-edition version of the beloved Miata MX-5 in honor of this major milestone for Mazda.

Mazda Celebrates Their 100th Anniversary

Mazda is one of the largest, top-rated, and most influential automakers in the world. This multinational automaker has been revolutionizing the auto industry since they were originally founded exactly a century ago in 1920.

The vehicles that Mazda designs, produces, and distributes worldwide are reliably innovative, trendsetting models that raise the bar for other vehicles in their classes. Mazda is known for their high-performing vehicles and the creativity and attention to detail that they pour into each and every vehicle they bring to the market.

Unsurprisingly for this classy major automaker, Mazda went big but tasteful for their 100th-anniversary celebration by releasing 100th Anniversary Special Edition models of each and every vehicle in their current lineup. The Mazda Miata MX-5 is just one of many special-edition models that Mazda will release to the mainstream auto market throughout 2020.

Mazda Miata MX-5 100th Anniversary Edition Set to Hit the U.S. Market

In early spring of 2020—just as COVID-19 cases were majorly ramping up in the United States and across the globe—Mazda announced their very special plans for their 100th anniversary.

However, Mazda drivers in the United States have been disappointed thus far by Mazda’s lack of confirmation regarding whether the Japanese automaker’s sought-after 100th Anniversary Edition models would be sold in the U.S.—and if so, when they would be available for purchase or at least pre-order.

Understandably, Mazda was unable to offer any clear answers to these questions for months following their initial announcement of their special-edition cars because of complications and uncertainties surrounding the coronavirus pandemic.

In fact, it still remains somewhat unclear which of Mazda’s 100th Anniversary Edition models will eventually become available in the United States. However, one thing is for certain. The 100th Anniversary Edition Mazda MX-5 is set to hit the mainstream auto market in the United States sometime in late 2020.

Until then, keep reading to learn more about what makes this special-edition Miata MX-5 so special.

Top 3 Features of the 100th Anniversary Edition Mazda Miata MX-5

The changes for the 100th Anniversary Edition Miata MX-5 are subtle enough to be tasteful, but they still make the Miata stand out with special finishing touches that set this special-edition roadster apart from other vehicles on the road.

1. Anniversary Embellishments

The 100th Anniversary Edition Miata MX-5 comes with a variety of anniversary-themed embellishments to celebrate this momentous milestone for Mazda.

Miata MX-5 Special Edition

Every special-edition Miata MX-5 comes with a red and black front badge that reads “100 Years 1920-2020” along with special anniversary-themed wheel caps and key fob.

2. Coupe-Inspired Color Palette

The R360 Coupe was Mazda’s very first passenger car—way back in the 1960s. The most luxurious original R360 model came in a shade of white with a red roof.

To pay homage to this classic passenger car, Mazda gave their 100th Anniversary Edition Miata MX-5 a color palette inspired by the coloring of the original R360 Coupe.

The special-edition Miata MX-5 is white with a ruby red roof and an upscale dark red leather interior. This color palette gives this lightweight roadster a striking, classy, and elegant look that makes it stand out on the road without drawing too much attention.

3. Upscale Features

Every 100th Anniversary Edition Mazda Miata MX-5 comes equipped with all the features that are included within the traditional Miata’s Grand Touring trim level.

Grand Touring is the Miata MX-5’s highest trim level and comes with a host of upscale features, including but not limited to a host of advanced tech and safety features, heated side mirrors, an adaptive front lighting system, an automatic climate control system, etc. etc.

Only time will tell whether more of Mazda’s 100th Anniversary Edition models will make it to the United States. In the meantime, eager Mazda drivers have the lovely special-edition Miata MX-5 to look forward to on the U.S. auto market in the near future.

Podcast: Customer Interview

Matt 00:16
Welcome, listeners. It is I, your host for the month. It’s Matt. And I’m here at the actual store in Puente Hills. It’s PH Mazda. And what I’m trying to do for everybody now is just trying to give a little bit of a different perspective. So I’m trying to actually get some customers that come in after they’ve purchased their cars, see if they want to talk to me a little bit and tell me about it. I was lucky enough to find my guy here, newfound friend of mine, really cool dude. His name is Josh. Now Josh, first off, thank you for doing this with me, man.
Josh 00:50
Absolutely, man. No problem.
Matt 00:52
It sounds great. So you were telling me off-air you’re actually from San Diego.
Josh 00:57
Yeah. I am from San Diego. Yes.
Matt 00:59
What made you come all the way to Puente Hills for your car?
Josh 01:04
They hooked me up, man [laughter]. They hooked me up. They gave me a deal I could not refuse.
Matt 01:08
Plain and simple, huh?
Josh 01:09
Sometimes you got to go to the source to get something better.
Matt 01:13
That makes sense. And not only that. I mean, you’re already getting great deals because you are catching onto the Black Friday sales events and everything like that. But something about this dealership here in particular just kind of– they tend to just turn it up a notch.
Josh 01:27
Yeah, man. They really take care of me. They took care of me, I should say. I came in. I spoke with somebody on the phone. We had the conversation. I was like, “All right. I’ll make it out there to see what you guys got on Black Friday.” And sure enough, they made me a deal could not refuse, so I had to go with it.
Matt 01:46
That’s awesome, man. So what did you end up picking up?
Josh 01:48
The Mazda 6 Touring in red. In red. I hope it’s not a cop magnet [laughter]. But I had to. I couldn’t turn down that red, man. It looks so beautiful.
Matt 01:57
That’s yours right outside?
Josh 01:58
That’s it right there. Look.
Matt 02:00
Dude, that’s beautiful. Dang.
Josh 02:00
Yeah [laughter]. Thank you, thank you.
Matt 02:03
Yeah, man. And look at them tires though. The wheels.
Josh 02:05
Well, the wheels, I had to go with that color combo, man. They told me they had one with black wheels. I was like, “That’s the one I want.”
Matt 02:11
“That’s the one.”
Josh 02:12
And initially, they gave me the red with, I think, it was their regular silver wheels. And I was like, “Do you guys got the black ones, by a chance?” And they’re like, “You know what, we’ll hook you up.” So I was like, “Say no more [laughter]. Take care of me. Please.”
Matt 02:24
“Where do I sign?”
Josh 02:25
Yeah, man.
Matt 02:26
That’s awesome. So all right. So tell me what else about the car really made you choose this one?
Josh 02:31
Honestly, man, I was looking at a lot of other sedans. And I’m sure you’ve heard of Apple CarPlay, right?
Matt 02:38
Josh 02:38
So I’m an iPhone guy, a heavy iPhone guy. So I was just looking for something that had that in particular. And I noticed that Mazda was actually integrating them into all their newer vehicles. Not everybody’s catching up, but slowly but surely, some people are. So I was just like, “You know what, I like this feature that comes with this Touring model.” So I just jumped on it, and I was like, “Yeah, man. That’s what I want. That’s what I like.” I like having the GPS straight from my phone. It just works. It just works.
Matt 03:06
Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It just works.
Josh 03:08
Just works.
Matt 03:08
And that’s the one thing that Mazda’s always been doing. I mean, anyone that pays attention, Mazda really steps up what they do tech-wise. So they’re all about using technology as far as becoming gas savers, as far as safety features, as far as– and let’s just touch on that a little bit if you don’t mind. Your car – correct me if I’m wrong – that model there actually comes with the heads-up display?
Josh 03:33
It does. Yeah. So what one of the guys was showing me is it has that HUD or HUD, I guess, what they call it, heads-up display, like you said, and it shows you the miles per hour. So as you’re driving, you don’t need to look down to your speedometer.
Matt 03:48
Oh, the dashboard speedometers.
Josh 03:49
Yeah. So it’s right in front of you. So as you’re driving, you can see how fast you’re driving. And it shows the blind spot monitoring as well. So if there’s a car coming up on your left or on your right, you’ll see the little dots on there as well as on the mirrors, too, but you’ll see them right there, so you don’t even need to look over to actually see your mirrors. I mean, you still need to, of course. But it gives you that freedom of being able to just look there instead of having to turn, so. I like that. I feel like that’s a really good safety feature, in my opinion.
Matt 04:21
Yeah. Absolutely. Especially with something like, “Ooh, he’s got this shiny red.”
Josh 04:24
Yeah. You know what I mean [laughter]? I got to make sure nothing’s coming up on the side, creeping up on me [laughter].
Matt 04:29
Yeah. Absolutely. So I’ve been hanging around the shop a lot, talking to some of the dealers and everything. Of course, doing some reading too. I saw that that car actually was given by Car and Driver Magazine– they got five stars just overall rating.
Josh 04:46
Yeah. Yeah. I was actually looking into safety as well. I got some little ones. So I want to make sure I’m in a safe car. I want to make sure I’m in something that rides comfortably, my family can enjoy, and if, God forbid, something were to happen, we’re in a safe car.
Matt 05:01
You’re safe. Yeah.
Josh 05:02
Yeah. We’re in the safest car that’s possible. Yeah.
Matt 05:05
Yeah. So that’s great that you do that, man. Have you actually tried to take a seat in the back?
Josh 05:11
You know what, not yet [laughter]. But my kids love it. They always fall asleep. Always falling asleep. So, I mean, that leads me to believe that it’s pretty comfortable back seats [laughter]. So we’ll see. We’ll see.
Matt 05:22
Perfect. Perfect.
Josh 05:22
Maybe I’ll let the wife drive and kiddo front. We’ll see. We’ll see [laughter].
Matt 05:26
So I know it’s been pretty packed around this time, as you kind of expect, because they have just crazy deals for everybody out there. So maybe you can just tell me a little bit how you managed to kind of get in and get out. I noticed you kind of came and you were in here for – I don’t know – maybe hour or so?
Josh 05:49
Yeah. I kind of just came in, signed some papers, shook some hands, and that was really it. Like I said, the majority of my deal was kind of set in stone over the phone. I kind of told them what I wanted, what I was looking for. So when I came in, they had a couple options for me. They did have the Sport and the Touring for me so I can test out both. I did take them both out for a spin. And I kind of was just sold on the Touring. Overall, I liked the feel of it. I liked, obviously, like I said, the color, the wheel combo, and the interior, man. It’s like you’re walking into– it’s a luxury interior to me. So I really liked it. It was definitely an upgrade from my old vehicle. So, yeah, to me, I just really liked the car, so I just ended up going with the Touring instead.
Matt 06:32
Yeah. No, I definitely think you made a good decision, man. For one, the outside, it looks good. It looks pretty sporty, to be honest.
Josh 06:38
Yeah. Yeah. Exactly. It’s–
Matt 06:39
The inside, it is pretty luxurious. It’s got that– what I like is that infotainment center. It’s got a pretty big display.
Josh 06:48
Yeah. So what’s crazy about that display is it’s only touch screen when you’re parked. So when you’re driving, you can’t reach out and touch it. That’s what one of the guys was telling me. I was trying to touch it while I was driving. He’s all, “No, no, no. You got to use the center knob.” So I guess they have a knob right in the middle, and you basically move that knob, and it highlights whatever icon you’re moving on screen or whatever section, and you can rotate. And it’s something you got to get used to. But I was trying it out and was like, “I can get used to this. It’s not too bad.” So, I mean, yeah, I feel like it’s a little safer than reaching over to the screen and touching it. So, yeah, I like that.
Matt 07:23
Yeah. It’s easier to keep it clean too. No fingerprints on it.
Josh 07:25
Right. Right. Exactly [laughter]. Yeah.
Matt 07:28
So you said you called somebody here on the phone. So just kind of walk me through if you don’t mind. Probably went to the website and then–
Josh 07:36
Yeah. So, yeah, I found their website. Like I said, I was doing my research. I checked out a couple dealerships out here in San Diego, but nothing really caught my attention. They didn’t really have what I was looking for in particular. They told me they could bring it from somewhere, but I was like, “No. I need to take advantage of these Black Friday deals.” So I looked a little a ways. It’s not too far from me. About two hours, two and a half hour drive. So I took the drive, brought the kids with me, brought the wife. And we just made it happen. We came up here. Like I said, I talked on the phone with these guys, and they told me, “Yeah. Come out. I got a couple things for you. We’ll talk, and we’ll see what we can do.” And like I said, I had done a lot of the preapproval stuff over the phone just to kind of make my trip quick. I got kids. Sometimes they can get fussy, especially being in a dealership for a while. You know how that goes. Two, three hours in there, maybe four. So I took care of all that stuff at home. And then once I got there, they told me, “Yeah. You just pick what you want, and we’ll go through the process.” And like I said, I picked out that Touring and say no more. We got the deal taken care of.
Matt 08:39
Listeners, do you see what I’m saying? Do you see how easy it is nowadays? You can hop online, go to You’ll find a phone number on there. You can do a live chat with one of the internet sales people. They’ll answer all the questions you need, and you can set it up just like our boy Josh did. He came all the way, two hours, two and a half hours maybe, brought the family just because he understood, everything was pretty much laid out for him, and he was able to leave with– I’m telling you, this car looks really– I might leave with you.
Josh 09:13
Aye, man [laughter]. Let’s go, bro. Let’s go. I’ll let you test-drive it [laughter].
Matt 09:16
You got room for one more, bro? Let’s go. Like I said, man, I do want to just tell you thank you for doing this. I know I kind of approached you in a awkward way like, “Hey–”
Josh 09:26
No worries.
Matt 09:27
“–I’m doing a podcast. You want to come on [laughter]?”
Josh 09:29
“All right. Let’s do it.” [crosstalk].
Matt 09:30
Yeah. So thank you for being game for that, man. Congratulations–
Josh 09:33
No problem.
Matt 09:33
–on the car.
Josh 09:34
Thank you, thank you.
Matt 09:35
Puente Hills Mazda, I’ma speak on behalf of them. I’m sure that they are very grateful that you decided to follow through. I’m glad that they were able to help you. They do love to tell everybody, “You don’t have to spend half of your day in a dealership anymore. It’s not like that. It’s 2018, guys. You can do pretty much anything you need to online, over the phone, make things much easier, including purchasing a brand-new vehicle. So, Josh, man, I want to say good luck, drive safe.
Josh 10:04
Thank you.
Matt 10:04
Have fun, man. Say hello to all your kids. What are you doing for Thanksgiving?
Josh 10:09
Thanksgiving, we’re going to get together with the family, going to go visit my parents. So it should be a fun time. Should be a fun time. We’re going to get some turkey going, some ham. The works. The works.
Matt 10:18
Oh, that sounds great. Okay. Well, San Diego, I mean, I got something I could do out there. You trying to bribe me or something?
Josh 10:23
Hey, bro. Come by, man [laughter]. Come by. Hey. 7 o’clock. Sure. I’ll see you there.
Matt 10:26

Podcast: Customer Interview on the Mazda Miata

Matt 00:02
Hey, listeners. It is your host for the month. I am Matt, and I am here at PH Mazda. That’s Mazda of Puente Hills. I am doing this podcast episode and I’ve tried to do a little something special, a little something different. I’ve actually been trying to get in touch with people to give you a different perspective. So these people that I’m bringing in on these podcasts are actually people that are looking at purchasing a Mazda for themselves. We’ll be asking them why, how, all the good questions. What is it about Mazda that makes them want to purchase one? So I met with this guy today. His name is Peter. Can I call you Pete?
Peter 00:41
Yes. That’s fine.
Matt 00:42
Peter 00:42
My friends and family, they call me Pete. Sure.
Matt 00:46
Well, Pete, I’m sorry. I just want to first off say thank you for this. I know I approached you, it was a little awkward because you’re over here trying to shop for a car and I’m like, “Hey. I’m doing a podcast.” So thanks for being a good sport, man. I do appreciate your time. It won’t take long.
Peter 01:00
No. That’s fine.
Matt 01:02
So you were telling me– off air, you were saying that you have quite a bit of background in the industry.
Peter 01:09
Yeah. Well, I used to sell cars many years ago, and I’ve been in management as well. And so I kind of know the industry. I’ve worked on cars. I worked in the service department as well, a few years back. So I’m pretty much immersed in the auto industry. I guess you could say that.
Matt 01:32
That’s probably an advantage that you have. Right?
Peter 01:35
I could say that. Yes. I think so.
Matt 01:39
So what is it that you’re in here looking for, man?
Peter 01:42
You know what? I’ve had a roadster before. I had a Honda roadster. It was an Peter000.
Matt 01:48
Oh, the Peter000s. Yeah. Yeah.
Peter 01:50
Yeah. It was a fun car. And so I’ve always looked at the Miata. The Miata, I’ve driven it, and it drives like a little go kart. It’s a really fun car. And being out in LA a lot, it’s sometimes kind of hard to find places to park. And so the car is great on gas. It’s a fun car to drive. I really don’t need a lot of room. So between my wife and I– well, my wife prefers that I have a car. I really would rather have a motorcycle, but you know how that goes.
Matt 02:22
So this is your compromise?
Peter 02:23
This is my compromise. Exactly. So I’m going with the little Miata.
Matt 02:27
Cool, man. So yeah. The Miatas, a lot of people would say they are the roadster that kind of made it popular. You know?
Peter 02:37
Matt 02:37
A lot of people are just– once you start in a Miata, I notice a lot of people actually stick with the Miata and they keep on going. So besides the fun, being able to drive, and it running like a go kart, and just being real fun, I mean, what do you plan on using this car for? Is it just cool little drives out on the town with the wife?
Peter 03:00
Well, I definitely just see that happening. I mean, I like to go out to the wineries out over in Temecula area. And so it’s really cool. They always have really great weather out there. And having a convertible is a pretty cool car to have. I’ve had a Mazda. My first Mazda was an RX7. It was also a two-seater. And so it was a fun car. I loved that vehicle. So Mazda is just one of those few vehicles that are still being built out in Japan. And I just really, really am attached to the Mazda brand.
Matt 03:36
You know what’s really cool about the Miatas is that– well, Mazda period. Mazda is one of those brands that keep on using technology to further advance, whether it be saving on gas mileage, or safety, or even just infotainment type of deals. The Miata has kind of included some of that infotainment. They actually have like a really big screen. That’s really cool.
Peter 04:02
Yes. For sure. The technology on these vehicles is actually that of, for example, Mercedes Benz. They’re up to date with their technology, and everything is just at arm’s reach. Everything is so close, everything’s perfect, and the cockpit is almost like being in an airplane. You know what I mean? Like a jet. So I really do love the way it holds everything really nice and tight.
Matt 04:32
Right. Right on. Now, do you know exactly what kind of gas mileage you’re getting on this?
Peter 04:37
Well, as a matter of fact, let’s see. If I’m not mistaken, it’s something like about 26, 35. So on the highway, you’re going to get 35. I don’t know about my lead foot. I’ll probably end up with like 32, 33 more or less. But on the city, you’re getting 26. So that’s why I’m getting it. It’s still an economical car, it’s not expensive at all, it’s very affordable, it’s a fun ride, it has all the technology features that I’m looking for, and like I said before, I could park it anywhere. It fits everywhere.
Matt 05:11
Yeah. That does come in handy, especially out in LA. Like you said, you were spending a lot of time out there.
Peter 05:17
Matt 05:18
So real quick, man. I’m going to let you get back to your car shopping. So just real fast, though, because you have some experience in the industry and you’ve been around it for a long time, we’re on October now. November is coming up really soon. And I know around November, a lot of dealerships are starting to tell you about the Black Friday deals, closing out the year, trying to give you the best deals possible. From your experience, do you think now is a good time to start shopping or would you prefer or even advise someone to maybe just wait a couple of months?
Peter 05:53
Well, right now, it’s starting to get a little competitive. So a lot of dealerships are going to start selling the vehicles at the best price they possibly can, which you and I know that it’s normally typically the same price that they’ve always been offering them. But they get a little bit more competitive during the close end of year because the 2019s are just around the corner. This is why I’m getting the 2018. And so it is a good time to definitely start shopping. If you’re really interested in getting a vehicle, right now is a really good time. Because I have a business, getting the vehicle, I can actually write it off into my business. So it really does save me a lot of money at the end of the year, for next year. And so I can get a lot write offs out of it. So this is why I do my shopping during close towards the end of the year. And so I just don’t want to do– there’s going to be a lot of things going on at December. So I want to get my shopping done before that. And being that we’re getting closer to the end of this month, now Halloween is upon us. So yeah. I thought maybe getting the vehicle would be a really good time to do it now.
Matt 07:04
Speaking of Halloween, what are you doing, man?
Peter 07:06
Oh, man. Me and my girl, we’re going to be Bonnie and Clyde, bro. Yeah. I’m going to be all dressed up to the nines. I’m going to have my boy’s little machine gun.
Matt 07:17
There you go.
Peter 07:17
And it’s going to be pretty cool. So I won’t have to wear makeup, which is nice [laughter]. I’ll still look sharp.
Matt 07:23
Right on. Right on.
Peter 07:23
Yeah. We’re going to a dress-up little party. It’ll be fun. It’ll be fun.
Matt 07:28
That will be fun, man. And driving off into the sunset in your brand-new Miata [laughter].
Peter 07:34
Yeah. There you go.
Matt 07:35
That’s going to be awesome.
Peter 07:36
That’s it.
Matt 07:37
And then, what about for November? Thanksgiving’s coming up. You guys cooking or what?
Peter 07:42
I love to cook.
Matt 07:43
Peter 07:44
I love to cook. Thanksgiving is one of those favorite holidays that you get to just throw out and show off your cooking skills. And so I got my eyes on some of those dishes that I’ve been watching on the Food Network. So we’ll see how it goes.
Matt 07:57
Okay. So now that we’re friends, what time should I arrive [laughter]?
Peter 08:03
Bring the beer, bro.
Matt 08:04
Okay. Okay.
Peter 08:04
Bring the beer. You’re more than welcome [laughter].
Matt 08:08
All right, man. So real quick, just for all you listeners out there, you heard it here from our guy, new-found friend. I will be at his place just to grub on Thanksgiving. Clyde, himself.
Peter 08:20
Yeah. That’s right.
Matt 08:22
Getting himself, he’s looking for a Miata today. Now, just real quick, I wanted to ask you, did you take advantage of the website tools at There are some tools there where you can chat live with one of our internet sales guys.
Peter 08:36
As a matter of fact, I did. One of the things that I like to do, is I like to make sure that they have the vehicle that I’m looking for. And so I was looking at the Miata Sport, but I decided to go with the Grand Touring. It’s a little bit more, but it has more of the features that I’m looking for. And it happens that they had both the Sport and the Grand Touring. And so I’m going to go along with the Grand Touring. And yeah. They answered all my questions, they were very helpful, and I can’t stand liars. And this dealership really is honest. They’re really honest with what they’re doing. They’re really cool people. So I recommend this dealership for sure.

Podcast: Nathan White Service Manager

Matt 00:01
Hello, friends and family and all the listeners out there. First off, I am your host, Matt. And I do want to say thank you very much for tuning in to another episode of the Puente Hills Mazda Podcast. This month, I am going to be interviewing the service manager here at Puente Hills Mazda. But first, I wanted to just invite all of you to kind of engage with us a little bit. What I want to know is if there’s any questions that you guys have about anything here at Puente Hills Mazda. I do want to advise you to just let those questions or comments– just let them be known. So if you hop onto the Puente Hills Mazda website – that’s – you’ll be able to find tons of ways to get in contact with us. There’s a live chat that you can actually have with a human being on the other end. And they more than likely are working with the internet sales team, so they’ll have plenty of information for you about any of the vehicles that you might be interested in. But I also want you to be aware that there is a service tab at the very top of the page. So what you would do is you would just hover over service, and you can start to see all the different options that pop up. You’ll be able to schedule an appointment. You’ll be able to see some of the coupons that we have available to you when it comes to the Mazda Car Care. You can even order parts online. You can look at the tire store. Even if you were just looking at some accessories that you wanted to shop for, it’s all available to you right there on the website. Again, that’s
Matt 01:35
You will have access, again, to ask any questions that you might have in regards to service as well. So if you do have those questions, understand that they are being heard by the team over here at Puente Hills Mazda. Chances are, those questions will come back to me, and we’ll be able to cover those things on a future episode of the PH Mazda Podcast. So that’s an open invite. Again, I am going to be talking in this episode, coming up very shortly, with the service manager. So you might not hear– if I don’t cover any of the questions that you are interested in getting answers to in this episode, rest assured that we can go ahead and answer them in a future episode. You can also contact them. They are on social media: Twitter, Facebook. Even if you want to say something on their Instagram page, you can do that as well. They’re very good at answering anything online as well. So without further ado, please welcome my guest, the service manager at PH Mazda. Enjoy.
Manny 02:47
Welcome, everybody. We are here at Puente Hills Mazda. I am here with Nathan White, and he is the service manager here at Puente Hills Mazda. How are you doing, Nathan?
Nathan 02:56
Good. How are you doing?
Manny 02:57
Doing very good. Doing very good. So tell us about yourself, Nathan. What got you started in the car industry?
Nathan 03:02
Well, I started in the industry as a service advisor about 30 years ago. Worked in the service departments for approximately 5 years and then moved into the parts department. Worked as a parts counter person. Moved up to a parts managing position. Got back into the service side of the business, and here we are, the service manager at Puente Hills Mazda.
Manny 03:20
Wow. What an interesting story, Nathan. That’s super awesome. Tell us a little bit about your service department. What’s so special here?
Nathan 03:27
Well, service department, right now we have three service advisors. I have nine certified Mazda technicians, one of which is a senior master tech. And we also have four master techs under that one. And also, too, probably, I would guess, a well over a hundred years of Mazda experience out there in the shop.
Manny 03:45
Wow. So you guys have a lot of experience here. You guys know– very knowledgeable with all your vehicles. That’s super great to know. How long does it take for a technician to move up master?
Nathan 03:54
Usually, a technician will come in and start out as a loop technician. And depending on how hungry he is, he can move up within six months.
Manny 04:02
Awesome. Wow. So people can really level up here. That’s awesome. So, Nathan, tell us. Why should Mazda customers come and bring their cars to get serviced here, at Puente Hills Mazda?
Nathan 04:12
Well, like I stated before, our technicians are all Mazda certified. We have state of the art Mazda diagnostic tools, over 100 years of experience working on Mazdas. And that’s what we do. We work on Mazdas.
Manny 04:25
Oh, wow. Awesome. Is there anything that a Mazda customer might learn by getting their car serviced here, at Puente Hills Mazda?
Nathan 04:32
Well, there is a general thought out there that going to an independent shop is going to be less expensive than it is coming to the dealership. And that simply is not the case. Our costs compete with the independent shops on all levels.
Manny 04:47
Awesome. That’s good to know. Hopefully, all customers will keep that in mind. What kind of advice would you give to all customers, to anybody about maintaining their car?
Nathan 05:02
Well, service your car with the factory-recommended schedules. Depends on your type of vehicle. It could be 3,500 miles to 7,000 miles, but get your maintenance done on the vehicle. One of the major things we see is a lack of maintenance on cars, which will definitely affect your driving performance. You bring it in here, and you get it maintenanced on a regular basis. We want to make sure that you’re safe on the road, your brakes are good, your tires are good, you’re changing your oil and filters when needed. And we want to keep your Mazda running as well as it did the day you bought it.
Manny 05:38
Well, that’s great. Thank you so much for your time, Nathan. And hope everybody have a great day.
Nathan 05:44
All right. Thank you.
