Does the 2019 Mazda3 have all-wheel drive?
For the first time ever, the Mazda3 will feature an all-wheel drive (AWD) version. All-wheel drive vehicles are gaining popularity across the board for good reason. That being said, the all-wheel drive version is an upgrade. On the base trim level, you will have a front-wheel drive (FWD) drivetrain still. To get all-wheel drive you can choose the Select Package, the Preferred Package, or the Premium Package. All of those have the option for either FWD or AWD. The AWD version is called i-ACTIV AWD ®. It achieves a slightly lower fuel economy than the FWD version, but the difference is only 2 mpg for the combined fuel economy ratings.

Why choose an all-wheel drive vehicle?
As we said in our intro, all-wheel drive can help you gain traction and control while efficiently using power. Traction is important when you are driving because having good traction can improve your fuel economy and keep you from getting into a vehicle accident. Having good traction also can help with acceleration. With power distributed between all four tires, you can really gain speed quickly as you merge onto a highway. All-wheel drive vehicles also have higher resale value, which is great if you are someone who knows you will be reselling this vehicle in the future.
