5 Interesting Facts About The 2023 Mazda CX-50
More than ever, Mazda Canada President David Klan says, "our customers are looking for vehicles that can do more and go further."
This is Mazda's newest SUV, the first in a trio that will include a larger CX-70 and eventually a CX-90. With the same size as the CX-5, the 2023 Mazda CX-50 has a wider stance and a roomier interior. In Mazda's growing SUV lineup, the CX-50 won't replace the CX-5 because they're different vehicles intended for different purposes.
As a result of the CX-50's enhanced adventure capability, it is designed for North America. "This new Mazda vehicle has been developed for North America," says Mazda North American President Jeff Guyton, "to support active and outdoor lifestyles in this region." Mi-Drive
The 2023 Mazda CX-30 comes equipped with advanced predictive i-Activ all-wheel drive, a remarkably powerful system that utilizes numerous sensors to accurately detect the traction each corner requires. Furthermore, the 2023 Mazda CX-50 offers an upgraded Mi-Drive multi-mode system that improves off-road and sport driving performance. If you opt for the more powerful engine on the Mazda CX-50, you'll also get a special mode designed to assist in towing.
Production
A shared Alabama plant equipped to build 150,000 Mazdas and 150,000 Toyotas will manufacture the Mazda CX-50 in January 2022.
Engines
As with the Mazda 3, Mazda CX-30, and Mazda CX-5, the 2023 Mazda CX-50 will be equipped with the Skyactiv-G 2.5-liter engine. Similarly, Mazda's CX-50 will also come with a turbocharged 2.5-liter engine, which is capable of 320 lb-ft of torque. In the future, Mazda says "the CX-50 will also be offered with electrified powertrains, including traditional hybrids.
Panoramic Sunroof
CX-50 offers the first panoramic sunroof available in a Mazda. That's not all. There are new exterior and interior colour options, including Zircon Sand on the outside and Terracotta on the inside.
Heavy Duty Roof
In its initial photos, Mazda shows off a heavy-duty roof rack that isn't just for show. The CX-50 has been designed to handle large loads with ease, which is why it has high-strength roof rails and reinforced door jambs and B-pillars. For easier loading of outdoor equipment on the roof, Mazda specifically designed the CX-50's height and length.
