Mazda Named Most Reliable

Reliability is among the top most important factors for both new and pre-owned car buyers. There are many, many benefits to driving a reliable car. First of all, owning an unreliable car is among the most frustrating things in the world. No one wants a car that doesn’t start most mornings or a car that always seems to be at risk of breaking down on the side of the road, and that’s exactly what reliable cars are not like. Recently the automaker has received many awards and a reputation that has come along with it. In one word to describe Mazda, Reliable.

Reliable vehicles are among the safest and most practical vehicles on the market. They also require fewer repairs and part replacements, which means they cost you less in general maintenance costs over the years. When you buy a reliable car, you can have the peace of mind of knowing that that car is going to serve you well on the road for many years to come—without breaking down over and over again while you own it.

If you’re in the market for a new vehicle and you want to prioritize reliability, consider making your next car a Mazda. Mazda was just recently named the most reliable automaker of 2020 by Consumer Reports—a popular nonprofit organization that is renowned for offering some of the most unbiased consumer-oriented research, product testing, and advocacy for consumers.

Many drivers check reviews from Consumer Reports before making their vehicle purchase. Consumer Reports is widely known as one of the most trustworthy among similar organizations, so their word carries a lot of weight—and their word is that, if you’re looking for a reliable car, go for a Mazda.

Consumer Reports Lists Mazda as 2020’s Most Reliable Automaker

In November of 2020, Consumer Reports named Mazda as the most reliable major automaker of 2020. This is the first time ever that Mazda has beat out repeat winner automakers Lexus and Toyota—which tend to go back and forth as the number-one most reliable automaker of the year according to Consumer Reports—and been listed as the year’s most dependable auto brand. For 2020, Toyota and Lexus took the second and third spots on the list respectively—and Buick and Honda took the fourth and fifth spots.

This annual study from Consumer Reports was formatted as a survey that included members of the non-profit organization who are owners of more than 300,000 cars from between the model years 2000 and 2020. Consumer Reports ranked new cars based on the overall reliability of their engine and transmission as well as how dependable their technology, infotainment, and advanced safety features are.

Mazda ranked first out of 26 different auto brands after many of their models demonstrated very high reliability in many different areas. This major automaker scored an impressive 83 out of 100 points on Consumer Reports’ survey. This is especially great considering that the average score among automakers who are participants in this survey is somewhere between 40 and 60 points. This ranking is measured based on the average predicted reliability score for all vehicles that are currently included in the automaker’s model lineup.

While many major automakers are eager to incorporate the newest technologies into the vehicles they release as soon as possible in order to keep up with the latest trends and consumer demands, Mazda tends to be more conservative with introducing new technology—for example, many Mazdas still don’t feature built-in touchscreen displays. Most Mazdas are also equipped with six-speed automatic transmissions, which tend to be more reliable than nine- or 10-speed transmissions.

Experts at Consumer Reports believe that the conservatism Mazda has displayed with regards to incorporating new technology helped this automaker score so highly on the 2020 reliability survey. Plus, even with less modern transmissions and fewer high-tech features, Mazda’s vehicles remain stylish, functional, and fun to drive thanks to Mazda’s continuous innovations and the attention to detail they pay to the cars they design and produce for the international auto market.
