What Happens If Your Mazda Vehicle Sits For An Extended Amount Of Time?
Keep your vehicle working during quarantine
While there are orders to stay inside, you will most likely be using your vehicle less. If you leave your vehicle sit for too long though, there can be negative impacts. Keep reading to learn more about what can happen and how you can prevent these issues.
What can happen
When your vehicle hasn’t been used for a few weeks, the battery can start losing its charge and if you only start your car, it may drain the battery more. Your tires also lose pressure after a while. If they lose pressure without the vehicle moving, they create flat spots on the tires which ruins them. If your oil or gas tank are not full, moisture can collect and lead to corrosion.
How to prevent this
There are one of two ways to prevent your vehicle from future damage. Even though there are very few places you can travel, you still need to drive around your vehicle for at least ten minutes. When you do this, it recharges your battery and gets the fluids flowing. Go for at least ten minutes and above 50 miles per hour. This way your engine will heat up and exercise its system. Try to do this once every two weeks.
